Common Questions

Is therapy right for me?

Many people find therapy helpful at different points in their lives — whether they are navigating change, feeling overwhelmed, seeking greater self-understanding, or wanting to relate differently to themselves or others.

Therapy offers a dedicated space to slow down, reflect, and explore your thoughts and experiences without judgment. For many, having a consistent, supportive conversation focused entirely on their inner world can be both grounding and clarifying.

In which states is telehealth available?

I am authorized to provide telehealth services through PSYPACT (Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology), which allows licensed psychologists to work with clients in participating states.

I also offer telehealth to clients located in Illinois and Texas. For the most up-to-date list of PSYPACT states, please visit www.psypact.org/psypactmap.

How do I schedule an initial appointment?

To schedule an initial appointment, please contact my office by phone at 210-201-2933 or by email at Info@ComharCounseling.com.

If you leave a voicemail or send an email, we will schedule a brief phone conversation (typically 5–10 minutes) to discuss what you’re looking for and determine next steps.

What can I expect?

Beginning therapy can feel both hopeful and uncomfortable — especially if this is new for you. My goal is to offer a supportive, thoughtful, and nonjudgmental space where we can begin to understand what brings you in.

Early sessions focus on getting to know one another and exploring what feels most important to you. It typically takes a few sessions to determine whether we are a good fit, which is an important part of the process.

Therapy is conversational and reflective. We may explore patterns, relationships, emotions, and life experiences, with attention to your goals and values. Over time, many clients find that this work supports greater clarity, self-trust, and a more grounded way of engaging with life.

Insurance?

I am primarily a private-pay practice. I do offer limited in-network availability with Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna, and I am happy to discuss whether this may be a fit during an initial consultation. I can also provide documentation for clients who wish to seek out-of-network reimbursement through their insurance plans.

Many clients choose to pay privately in order to maintain greater flexibility, privacy, and autonomy in their care. When using insurance, a mental health diagnosis is required and treatment details may be subject to review by the insurer. Paying privately allows therapy to remain focused on your individual needs rather than insurance requirements.

If you have questions about fees, insurance, or reimbursement options, we can talk through those details together to determine whether working together is a good fit.

Fees?

Fees vary depending on the services provided. Please contact the office for current rates.

A written Good Faith Estimate is available upon request for clients paying out of pocket, in accordance with the No Surprises Act.

If you have questions about fees or reimbursement options, we can discuss those details together to determine whether working together feels like a good fit.

Additional information about good faith estimates can be found at www.cms.gov/nosurprises or by calling 800-985-3059.

Additional professional profiles?

Some clients and referral sources find it helpful to view additional professional profiles. I maintain profiles on Psychology Today and Zencare, which include general information about my background and approach.
